The Time Travelers, Book 2: Humanity's Mirror
“No power.”
“What happened to our solar charger?”
“That got damaged. I couldn’t fix it.”
“Did you destroy it?”
“Yes, I buried it.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“What good would that have done?” He didn’t want to tell her the real reason. That he just didn’t want to give her one more piece of bad news. They were both trying to shield each other, but it wasn’t helping things.
They needed to be honest with each other, but neither one really knew how.
“So you just buried it? Did you smash it up carefully before doing that? Did you make sure that no one could reconstruct the technology, and did you remove the serial number?”
“There wasn’t enough time, Gwen. If you remember, it was completely crazy. It’s lucky enough I was able to bury it.”
What could she say? Anyway, it was too late now. Maybe no one would find it. Right now, she had to focus on things they could change.
